Telefónica taps Comarch for OSS project, opens Singapore office

Telefónica's mobile advertising play is now group wide

telefonica-logo1Spanish operator Telefónica has awarded Polish B/OSS vendor Comarch a contract to supply network planning and optimisation products and services to across the operator’s European footprint. It is the vendor’s first multinational deal with Telefónica and builds on a previous implementation with Telefónica Deutschland, Comarch said.

The vendor said its contract was part of Telefónica’s wider strategy of B/OSS transformation, intended to enable the firm to deliver “global, replicable products and services without hard customisations, thus reducing integration costs and efforts.”

The contract will include a number of Comarch Next Generation OSS components, covering the following Telemanagement Forum’s Telecommunication Application Map (TAM) areas: Planning (Radio Access Network), Activation, Catalog, Service Order Manager, Resource Order Manager, Service Inventory, Resource Inventory, Resource Discovery and Data Synchronization and Fulfillment for Resource and Service Layers.

Meanwhile Telefónica, which is in the process of divesting non-core assets and consolidating its position in key markets, is looking East for further expansion opportunities. The firm’s Global Solutions division has announced the opening of a new office in Singapore that will, it said, enable it to better serve its MNC customers in the Asia Pacific region.

“The opening of this new office in this strategically important region is a deep reflection of our intention to continue to invest in expanding and developing our relationships with our multinational customers in Asia Pacific. This milestone ensures that we continue to be well positioned to deliver truly global managed services and a differentiated customer experience, enhanced by our strategic partners’ capabilities in the region,” said Juan Carlos Lopez Vives, president of Telefonica Global Solutions.
