Vodafone Americas to launch US MVNO on T-Mobile network

Vodafone Americas to launch a US MVNO

Enterprise-focused operator Vodafone Americas has announced it is to launch an MVNO targeted at its multinational (MNC) customers either based in the US or with a strong presence in the country. The telco said the service, to be launched in the latter part of 2015, will be offered under an MVNO with T-Mobile US.

In addition to the mobile service, the telco said it will also throw its converged communications offer OneNet Global into the mix.

“The addition of wireless services for Vodafone’s US MNC customers complements Vodafone’s existing portfolio of US and international fixed, mobile and machine-to-machine (M2M) products and services,” Vodafone Americas said in a statement.

This is the latest in a series of MVNO deals for T-Mobile US. It follows such as the agreement with broadcast company Univision Communications to target the US Hispanic market, as well as mobile deals with retailers Walmart and Target. The carrier said it added around 555,000 net customers through its wholesale channels during Q3.

Meanwhile, Vodafone UK has made an update on its 4G rollout announcing 17 new destinations to be added before the holiday period of Christmas and New Year. The operator said these will grow the total number of countries covered by Vodafone’s 4G network to 40, which the telco claimed is the biggest overseas LTE network of all UK operators.

“Around four million people head overseas during the festive period so today’s news is perfect for those wanting to upload photos or videos of their celebrations to their social media sites or check maps online whilst on the move,” Cindy Rose, Vodafone UK’s Head of Consumer, said.

Out of the 17 new countries so far added are Antigua & Barbuda, Cayman Islands, Croatia, Israel, Japan, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, Peru, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Slovenia, Sri Lanka and Thailand, with Fiji and Kuwait expected to be covered by Christmas.
