Moto warns on Middle East conflict

Mobile giant Motorola has warned that the war between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon could disrupt its business, which has sizable manufacturing and engineering operations in Israel.

The firm which employs around 3,500 employees in Israel, is believed to be the first to speak out against the war for economic reasons. It also warned that sales across the region could be affected by the conflict which is now in day 23.

In a statement the company said: “We also sell our products and services throughout the Middle East and demand for our products and services could be negatively impacted by the hostilities.”

The Middle East is an emerging market and as such is important for the phone company which did not give details on sales figures for the area.
