Samsung intros DivX phone

The movie fan’s dream device has been introduced in the shape of the Samsung F510, which claims to be the world’s first phone to support the DivX codec.

DivX is a favourite codec among internet users for storing films in a highly compressed format.

The phone allows for the viewing of MPEG-4, H. 264, WMV and AVI files from a built in memory of 410MB or via the microSD card slot.

The F510 is built to the same specification as its predecessor, the F500, which features dual LCD faces with one side specific to making phone calls while the other contains a larger screen and dedicated multimedia controls.

A swivel design allows the screen to rotate away from the controls to adjust the viewing or form a stand to place the device down on a stationary surface.

The F510 also features a DVB-H function, allowing for the reception of mobile TV.

There is no word yet on where it will be released or how much the phone will cost when available.
